mini snauzer starving all the time
my friend has a 3 1/2/yr old mini snauzer since it was 6 weeks old. they have had others so they are no used to this dogs behaviour. it is a spayed female that is dewormed and fed the best food but is starving all the time to the point that it is heartbreaking to watch. she had pacreatatis and the vet said they are proned to it. she got sick again with the same sympotoms and the vet said no it wasnt. she is not overweight but a good weight. the vet says some dogs are like this?????? should she be tested for thyroid or other conditions?
any ideas would be helpful

we got the door closed. we are doing some renovations and could not close the door but we fixed that problem. they truly have fun together but that really scared me. thanks everyone for your input. when we are not home the door will be closed.

can a cat smother a kitten
I have a 9 mon old and a 5 mon old kittens (cats) and a waterbed. The boys play all the time and love each other. Twice tonite though I heard Peanut the littlest one cry and when I went down TJ was had him on his back on the water bed and was laying on his head and Peanut could not push him off probably because when he pushed he would sink down. Could TJ accidently smother Peanut? We work all day and dont want to come home and find a dead kitten. We cant close the door all the way so I dont know what to do

we always carry a homemade one in the car just in case we come across a hurt animal. we always have a bag of temptations. can of cat food and even a container of wild bird seed which we have had to use when a small bird lost the rest of the group and was alone in a tree. the wildlife people told us he would stay there until the next flock came and if we wanted to feed himit was okay so we did everyday. he was in a safe place along the highway where nothing could get him. in a couple of weeks away he flew with the new flock.

cat cleans kitten
Just wandering why TJ who is 8 months old cleans Peanuts head who is 4 months old. Both are males and TJ is neutered. TJ washes Peanuts head for him when he is sleepiong or laying on the floor or couch. Its not a maternal instinct so what would it be?

I would have my pet cremated and returned home and would cry the whole rest of my trip. If I came across an injured animal I would not leave it to die I would do everything humanely possible to get help to have it taken to a vet and euthanized if they could not find an owner. I would pay for it myself. I cant leave anything suffer.

Oh my is he ever eating and growing now. I am soooooo happy. We just love him. TJ washes his head for him while he is sleeping it is so cute how they get along.

Update update. Peanut is eating cat food and crunchies. We fed him warmed baby food for 2 days and maybe that got him started. Wow I am a happy Peanut mommy. Sorry I didnt let you know earlier but I came down with the flu. Thanks everyone for your concern I think we are on the right road now. Thank goodness!

we just fed Peanut some baby food on a spoon. he didnt want it untill he got some in his mouth and then he would lick the spoon clean. got a good amount into him tonite now he is sleeping

sher9570 I have a cat like that also Marble she is 12. her tail was cut off at 5 mon old when her owner decided to drug her with enough antidepressents to knock her out for 3 days and attempt to cut the tail off. her system is messed up from the antis and she barfs on a 3 week cysle, week 1 eat like a pig eweek 2 eat not much and week 3 barf us everything she eats. its just Marble

Peanut kept the food down last nite but this morning had some water and vomited. Today he ate some food and kept it down. Many were offered and he was not interested but later ate a little. I bought some baby food and he would only eat it if he was spoon fed!!!!!!!! He is using the litterbox. The vet called today to checkup on him and is baffled by his behaviour. Gosh he went to bed with DH last night and snuggled right in and slept all nite. What a sweet baby he is.

Hiker3 thats too funny. Its hard to believe he can be so snuggly also. Tonite he ate about 8 pieces of kittenchow and then I tried the suggestion of putting a little tuna in water sauce over some crunchies and he ate a bit more and kept it down. He is in bed with DH now. Hopefully everyday he will eat more.

kitten (Peanut) not eating update
Took Peanut to the vet today and left him for observation as he threw up this morning after not eating nor drinking through the nite. He slept in bed with us. The vet examined him, temp, etc and kept him in a cage for the day. He escaped twice, grabbed everybodys leg that went by. ramsacked the place!!! and meowed almost all day. When he went to sleep everyone there said dont wake the kitten please. Too funny. The vet said no one would believe her that he wouldnt eat they thought she lost her mind because he is so active and alert.
Anyway, the vet couldnt find anything. She said perhaps its a reaction to the vaccine shot he had on Thurs., the fact he was in one home for 2 days, the shelter for one and to his forever home the next day. Thats alot of changes from Wed to Sat I guess. She said to monitor his eating if he does and if he doesnt she will do a barium. When I picked him up the little one on the desk said omg he was busy today. Then the owners wife who never cracks a smile brought him out and said he certainly was a handful today.
Hopefully over the next 2 days he will start eating. He is snuggly and beautiful and full of energy and I want to build on that and make him into a happy healthy pet

I have tried him with 3 types of food, even went out and bought a can of kitten food and nothing. My friend at the shelter that I got him from said he may be just too excited because he is in a new home. He isnt sick because he is running and playing and purring. He was examined by a vet on Thurs and went to the shelter Fri and we took him Sat. There are no signs of illness or discomfort. If he doesnt eat tomorrow I will take him for a checkup. He is going to the litterbox.
